About Me

I am based in the Gloucestershire area of England and specialise in the conservation and restoration of historic timber framed buildings and historic joinery. I also undertake bespoke joinery, timber frame surveys and research. I can (usually) repair anything from a rotten sash window to the large structural beams in a timber frame. The core of my business is based around the philosophy of minimum intervention and maximum retention - a well respected conservation policy which is often cheaper than complete replacement.

I graduated from Bournemouth University in 1994 with a degree in Heritage Conservation (The Conservation of Historic Buildings) and since 1996 have been working exclusively on Historic Buildings. I trained as a joiner working for St Blaise Ltd, where I was lucky enough to be involved with projects such as the V&A Museum's Henrietta Street rooms, the Great Court Project at the British Museum and some small works for the Houses of Parliament and Windsor Castle to name but a few. I have also worked as a skilled woodworker for McCurdy & Co and again was lucky enough to be involved with the on-site construction of the Pilton Barn project. I have also worked for various other timber frame and conservation companies. I am qualified to NVQ level 2 and hold a CSCS card. I have recently completed the timber conservation at No8 Market Place, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, as featured in BBC 2's 'Restored to Glory' series, and have won awards from the Civic Trust, SBPT and the Wood Awards' Conservation/ Restoration category in respect of this work. I have also acted as Carpentry Foreman with St. Blasie Ltd on the grade 2* listed Golden Cross, Gloucester and completed the structural repairs to many of the buildings around Newent and its environs. I am affiliated to the 'Carpenters Fellowship'and other conservation bodies. I also have a broad network of professional associations to use when other specialised fields of conservation are required.
